18 February 2015 Edition:

VALENTINE’S DAY festivities kicked off to an early start on Friday 13th February 2015 with a wonderful evening of good food and great music. To those of you who were unable to attend, take control of your diaries and ensure that you do not let the next opportunity slip by. These evenings are well worth attending and are being handed to you on a plate. No effort involved on your part. Just turn up and have some fun. Sharp-dressed men and ladies in their red and white outfits took to the greens on Saturday and Reading’s bowling greens where ablaze with colour. It was a happy Valentine’s Day and a happy birthday to Reading’s Valentine baby, Yvonne Graves. We wish you many, many more, Yvonne.

SATURDAY LEAGUE continues this coming weekend after a break. The news is still good for both the men’s and ladies’ teams, but there are still many games to come and we are all hoping to do even better. Continued co-operation on the part of the bowlers is ensuring that competitions are going well and are on track.

FORTHCOMING EVENTS are District Mixed Pairs which commences on 22nd March 2015. The entry form is on the notice board but will be coming down soon, so remember to add your names to the list, pop your payment into the box and ensure your entry is in before the closing date.   Negotiations are underway with other clubs in our area to have an EASTER TOURNAMENT with a difference. We will keep you posted.

The saddest news is that John and Janet Blyth and their families are having to cope with the loss of their beloved daughter Lorraine. Our deepest condolences go to all of them. A service will be held on Friday 20th February 2015 at 10.00 a.m. at the Methodist Church, Heidelberg Road, behind the Lemon Tree Shopping Centre. There are no words that can lessen their pain, but perhaps our presence and support may help a little.

Just a reminder to all our bowlers to check your notice boards.

See you in the sun.
