Club Champs have arrived
Welcome to March 2016!
Please note that there are “New Red Parking Stickers” for your cars available in the office. You must be fully paid up (or on Debit Order) to receive one, so if you are, please pick yours up today. Anyone not yet paid up, just chat to Helena in the office to assist you.
This weekend is our Annual Summer Golf Club Championships. There will be the usual fun-filled player auction on Friday evening after 18h30 in the bar. Mark Peterson will be doing the auction and it should be a fun evening so come and bid on your favourite player and let’s raise a few rand. Good luck to all participants on Saturday and Sunday. Cost is R470 per player for both days and includes a delicious beef roll on Sunday during prize giving.
A decision has been taken with regard to the official opening of the new 9th hole. This will take place on the 9th April after all the long weekends and school holidays. The green will be perfect by then and we would like as many members as possible to play on the day, or at least be here afterwards. We will be taking a member’s photograph of everyone around the green after the last players finish on the day. The idea is to put this in the paper and to have a blown up copy framed and put up in the bar, so please diarise this date and be here. There will be a huge party with a braai, live music, happy hour, a must win R5,000 cash draw and dancing. NOT something anyone wants to miss!!!
BOLF starts this Thursday and runs for six weeks – it is always great fun – so put your name down, and come and join in the weekly rivalry between the Golfers and Bowlers.
I have met with the Rand Water Team and contractors and the last section of pipe through the parking lot is expected to be laid in May/June. This will speed things up as it is after the rains and the club is not as busy – good news for all concerned. We are already working on a plan to accommodate cart owners and resolve any parking issues. More information in the weeks ahead.
We bade farewell to our F&B manager Stuart McLaren after 4 years. We wish him every success in his future endeavours. We are currently in the market for a new F&B Manager. There are a few strong candidates but any prospective applicants can mail me their CV’s by Friday, 4th March.
The school holidays are just around the corner, so make sure you book your games and enjoy the course. It is in magnificent condition.
The BIG NEWS about the course is that “Reading” has once again broken into the TOP 100 courses in the country at #93! This despite the Rand Water servitude work during the past 9 months. A wonderful achievement and richly deserved! Well done to Greenkeeper Sean, his team, Club Captain Todd and all concerned! We are very proud of this achievement!
Have a great week.
David & the entire Reading Family
