Final Update for 2016
It is with a sense of amazement that I write the last newsletter of 2016…Where did this year go!? Reading has been so busy and we have had a great year all told. Golf rounds are heading for a new record high in recent times and the finances are just fine. We owe a lot of this success to you, our amazing members. Let me say a big thank you for your support up front. It is hugely appreciated!
The last member’s function of the year takes place this Sunday. The members Christmas Lunch is this Sunday. Book now with Roz to avoid disappointment! Family and friends are very welcome and the cost is only R140 per head for a superb 3 course meal! (Discount already in the price so no 20% off) Book on (011) 907 8906.
Very important! Please remember your affiliation fees for golf! This must be paid by 31st December 2016. The cost is R560 per person per year. Please don’t forget to do this. Subs can be paid before 31st December to claim your 5% discount (On subs only, not affiliation fees), or by 31st March as per the constitution.
The course is in stunning condition with constant compliments from members and visitors alike. Sean and his staff continue to battle the amazing growth caused by all this beautiful nightly rain and daily sunshine. Well done to the grounds staff!
Please note that the club will be closed by 19h00 on the 24th and 31st December (or earlier if all members and guests leave). This is so that our staff can also spend some quality time with their families on Christmas and New Year. We are closed completely on Christmas Day and New Years Day – however, we will be open on Mondays.
While on the issue of staff, spare a thought for the 50 odd people who have worked really hard to provide you and all our thousands of visitors and guests with great facilities and service. While there is always room for improvement, they have done a great job in 2016. Give them a smile or word of encouragement. It means a great deal. I am personally very proud of what we have achieved this year and know 2017 will be even better.
Thanks to all the committees who give up their time and talents to help us keep things running smoothly. It is often a thankless job and your commitment is greatly appreciated by staff and members alike.
Finally to each and every one of you, our members, may we take this opportunity to wish you a blessed Christmas and a happy, healthy 2017. If you are going away, travel safely, have a good rest and get home safely. To everyone staying at home, you know where to spend your leisure time…At Reading (our park).
