Lots of parties approaching!!!
Weather-wise, we are getting back to normal, with not much rain in the past week. The course has dried out considerably and is looking stunning. The compliments have been numerous from members and visitors alike. A word of congratulations to Sean and his staff for their efforts during a trying period.
While on the course, you will notice repairs being made to the bridge to the 1st tee. Our thanks to Ian Brown for his valued input. Todd and Sean are overseeing this project and things are progressing well. More good news is that M&D, Rand Water’s contractors, are busy refurbishing the 9th where their trucks caused so much damage during the pipeline project. New grass is being laid this week and damaged sprinklers repaired.
A reminder that committee parking bays have once again reverted to committee members only now that the Rand Water pipeline is complete. Please don’t park in committee, staff parking or loading areas in front of the club. Thanks for your understanding in this regard.
This Friday is St. Patrick’s Day. As usual we will be having a social evening, with fine Irish grub and some music supplied by our own Wayne Venter. It is a relaxed affair and everyone is welcome. The Barrel of Fortune is now standing at a very healthy R2 150, so make sure you are in the bar on Friday evening to stand a chance of winning.
Next Friday is party time! We are hosting Trivia, followed by a party to say farewell to me in true Reading style! I would really love to see as many of you here as possible. It will be a sociable evening with good food and wonderful music, so if you are free, please come and join us.
Don’t forget that the rescheduled Club Championships is on the 8th and 9th April. Lists are up in the bar, so please re-enter. Lists are also up for Singles and Double Knockouts, so put your names down for that too.
Drinks prices will be increasing soon. The big suppliers have been slow to give their projected increases through, hence the delay after the budget speech last month. This is always the case and prices usually go up in April. We will strive to keep increases to a minimum and your 20% discount will continue to make being a member at this wonderful club worthwhile!
Very important, all subs must be paid by the 31st of March as decreed by our constitution. Please make the effort to pay on time or make an arrangement by chatting to Helena in the club office. Debit order options are available, so feel free to enquire if you prefer that route. Thanks for your assistance with this.
Good luck to our Betterball Side and Ladies Leagues who play this Saturday and Sunday. Go out there and make Reading proud!
Have a great week. See you all at the club.
David and the Team
